It is human nature, we do not like painful things. As much as possible we avoid experiencing pain in both physically and mentally.
Sometimes we think, maybe it would be better if there is no pain in this life. Pain only brings suffering.
Dr Paul Brand, a British doctor, who became a pioneer in surgery on leprosy. Together with his wife, Margareth Brand, an ophthalmologist - became a missionary in the medical field in India, to treat leprosy sufferers.
Dr Brand stated, "Thanks God for the pain, If only I could give one gift to my leprosy patients, that gift would be Pain".
Dr. Brand's view emerged after he learned that leprosy attacks and kills the nerves on the surface of our bodies, so the sufferer does not feel pain, even though his body parts are bitten by pests or exposed to other sharp objects.
This often causes lepers to become stupefied. Pain exists, aims to give a signal to avoid danger and survive. The problem is sometimes the signal can't tell if it's a real danger or just imagination. This is what makes us overreact.
Lesson Learned: Everything that God has given has a purpose, only if we want to embrace it and learn to control it for the sake of our lives.
