Wrong design?

In my previous article titled "Are you a winner or a loser?” I stated that God designs people like you and me, with a potential to be a winner. It is proven by the process of how a human is formed, 300 million sperms and only one will survive, fertilize the egg, become an embryo and born as a baby.

After I shared the article, I received questions such as “Does God always design His creations correctly? How about children who are sick, disabled, or mentally ill at the moment they are born?", "Haven’t some people got a better starting position for example born in a rich family? Isn’t the likelihood for success depending on the circumstances in which you were born?" These questions have thrilled me to write another piece of reflection.

The Book Genesis Chapter 1:24-31 (NIV):
24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.
25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Before we discuss further about God’s designs, let’s read the following passage from Genesis 1:24-31. In the biblical account of creation we read how God made everything, He looked at everything he made and found it very good (Genesis 1:31). In the case of humanity, we read that God created mankind in His image (Genesis 1:27). In other words, God always makes everything in a good condition, no matter what, He does not know how to make bad designs.

The next question is, what the proof that God’s creations are good. Years ago I attended a seminar about whether creation based on Bible is true or just a fairytale. During the seminar one of the discussions was that our solar system demonstrates remarkable evidence of intelligent design. If taken separately, each object and its characteristic are highly improbable by random chance. When taken together, the probability is so small as to be impossible—by random chance. For example: the Earth where we live, until now is the only planet that has living creatures. The composition of Earth’s atmosphere and the distance between the Earth and the Sun need to be precise, if it is not, then it is impossible that Earth can host billions of living creatures. We must admit that we are a product of a miracle—either a miracle of chance or a miracle of design; and all of these amazing designs are created by a Divine Creator, God.

Continuing to the subject of those who are born sick, disabled, or mentally ill - it seems that it contradicts with my statement that God designed humans with a potential to be a winner, because they seems does not as competent as a normal healthy person. I disagree that it contradicts with my statement. I believe we have seen a lot of people who are disable that had achieved a lot in their life. You can see people winning in the Paralympic Games, or Got Talent Shows. Or if to name an inspiring person, Nick Vujicic. He is an Australian Christian evangelist and motivational speaker, who was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, causing him has no arms and legs. Although it may not be easy for him to live as a disabled person, you can say that he has achieved a lot in his life, maybe more than an average normal person.

Answering the previously asked question if people born in a more fortunate condition have a better starting position. Isn’t the likelihood for success depending on the circumstances in which you were born? I would like to start my answer with the following illustration: When someone is asked, "Why do you have a curly hair?" He would answer "My parents and grandparents had curly hair, so I have it too". However, if he was asked why he is poor, people would laugh if he said “My parents and grandparents are poor, and genetically we are poor”, because everyone knows no matter how poor our parents and grandparents were, we are given opportunities to improve our condition to a better one.

If opportunity arises once, it could be luck, if twice, coincidence. If third time, then it is a pattern. Luck is great, but I believe that most of life is hard work. Let's look at most of the success and well known people, such as, Thomas A Edison, President Jokowi and Jack Ma etc. These people were not born in a wealthy family and yet they achieved a lot. On the other hand, I had seen examples where people who were born rich but unable to continue their parents’ business, because they did not work hard and incompetent. You can predict how they ended up being.

Psalm 139:13-14 (NIV) – "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”.

To sum up, I believe God never make mistakes in His designs. The human body is the most complex and unique organism in the world, and that its complexity and uniqueness reveals the mind of its Creator. Every aspect of the body, down to the tiniest microscopic cells, reveals that it is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-14). Although, in some situations they may not seem perfect on the surface. We have a finite mind, which cause us impossible to understand everything about the infinite God (Isaiah 55:8-9). Nevertheless, in our worst situation, God is always in control and promise to be by our side to the end, so never lose hope to fight and achieve what we are intended to. Keep going… Just like what Dory said, “Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming”. ^_^

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV) - “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts”.

Are you a winner or a loser?

I searched in Google, what does a winner and a loser mean? Here is the result, Winner is a noun, which means a person or thing that wins something. The synonym of winner is champion, conqueror, and victor. While loser is also a noun, which means a person or thing that loses or has lost something, and the synonym of loser is defeated person.

Romans 8:37 - "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us".

According to the verse in Romans 8:37, God designed you as His child, not to be a loser in your life. The verse affirms that God designed and created you with a potential to be a winner. Let’s have a closer look at the story about you and me: during sexual intercourse, about 300 million sperms fight the battle of conception, and only one will survive, become an embryo, and born as a baby. In other words, you and I are winners, even before we were born.

Then if God has designed human being with a potential to be a winner, but after they grow mature, some of them have not become "something" that they are intended to be, what is the root cause of it? I believe all people in this world does not like to lose, and never plan to be a loser in their life. However, somehow some people end up in this unpleasant condition.

Based on my experience winning is not an instant thing. No one in this world, directly can run right after they are born. Babies need to go through a series of processes and growth before they can walk their first step, then many steps - with unbalance walk then stable ones and eventually they can run. During this learning process, they experience many unpleasant situations, such as falling to the ground, stumbling against the wall or tripping over other hard objects, not only once but hundreds, or may be thousands of times. However, whenever they fall, they have courage to try again, again and again. Until finally they are strong enough to stand, walk and finally run.

I don't know when exactly a person develop fear to fail and give up attitudes. Being a senior high school teacher, I often heard that my students complain that they cannot do this and that, because it is difficult. Instead of trying to go through the learning process, they’ve just given up. In fact, some of them have not reached their 17th, they've already felt defeated when encounter difficulties. One thing I always remind my students, a theory that I usually call it "50% winning" theory. The theory is like this, when we give a try we’ve already gained 50% of chance to win, then we only need to earn another 50%. On the other hand, if we refuse to give an effort, it means we never have a chance to win.

What actually that made people refuse to give a try? Here are my guesses, first, maybe because they hesitate to give a try, second, maybe having difficulties to let their faith win, and the third, one maybe afraid to fail.

What's wrong with these three points? First, hesitate to give a try, see in Proverbs 10:4 (NIV) say that, "Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth", so, if we develop this character we definitely would end up with losing in our life.  There is a Chinese saying, (Nǔlì bù yīdìng chénggōng, bù nǔlì yīdìng shībài) which means “Work hard does not necessarily can bring you success, but if don’t work hard, you will fail”. Hence, doing nothing will not help our life progress.

Second, difficulties to let their faith win, which means, we may have lack of confidence that our God is able to help us succeed? One of God’s character is Omnipotent, which means having unlimited power, able to do anything. One of the reasons maybe we have not known our God better, hence we hesitate to ask for help to our God.

The last one is afraid to fail. From the fact of how a baby learns to walk, we know that winning is a process. Throughout the process, it is highly possible that we would encounter obstacles and hardship, so it is useless to avoid it. Hence, it is better we make an anticipation action to encounter these obstacles.

In summary, a winner is not a person who never fails or a perfect person or a person who never had a problem in his/her life. A winner is a person who fails but has the courage to rise and fight until he/she succeeds. So why should we be afraid to fail, as long as we want to rise again, it will not be a matter anymore. A winner is a person full of perseverance through every test in his/her life without complaints, until he/she redeems what God has promised. Becoming a winner or a loser, I would like to open those options for you to choose.

Choose wisely. (",")

"WINNING IS NOT A SOMETIME THING; IT’S AN ALL TIME THING. YOU DON’T WIN ONCE IN A WHILE, YOU DON’T DO THINGS RIGHT ONCE IN A WHILE, YOU DO THEM RIGHT ALL THE TIME. WINNING IS HABIT. UNFORTUNATELY, SO IS LOSING". - Vince Lombardi.

Trust His Heart (Rewrite - Updated Edition).

I wrote a similar article on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Then I think to rewrite and make it more structure and clearer.

As humans sometimes we feel very hard to understand why bad things happen to good people. Like the following story, that I heard one day while I was driving from my home to my office years ago. I was listening to a bible conference message from RBC by Rev. Bill Crowder (Our Daily Bread Bible Teacher). He talked about suffering. He said many times we do not know why bad circumstance happen to our life. Further, he shared his experience when he was a young pastor for a church, he received a call from his family to inform that his dad has passed away. While his heart was overwhelmed with grief, a senior pastor came to him and said "one day you will be thankful for this". He thought why he should be thankful for his dad's death. That happened to be his first funeral service. Years have passed by, he conducted many more funeral services, because of his experience with his dad's funeral, and he was able to serve the grieving family more passionately and connected with them.

Admittedly when unfavourable circumstances come to us, or good things have not happen to us, for example maybe a family is waiting for having a baby, an adult man or woman is looking for a job or a life partner or a very sick man or woman is waiting for a miracle that he/she would fully recover from his/her sickness, and yet these prayers have not yet been answered. To make it worse, sometimes when one bad event has not been recovered, another misfortune occur, it's like an old saying, "Rub salt into the wound". Some of us if it is not all, including me, sometimes would questioning God when an unfavourable situation occurs to me, "Why this happen to me? Has God forgotten me?" and in fact does God really forget about us? Or we think that God enjoy to see us suffer?

Isaiah 55:8-9 New International Version (NIV)
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Before we judge God, we need to know who we really are, and who God really is. God is an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent being. Who can fully understand Him? We are not all knowing, nor are we everywhere present. Furthermore, God never and will never enjoy to see us suffer. If he does, the cross will never happened. I wrote an article previously re. Blame-Shifting, where we as human sometimes do something wrong or inappropriate, and then dump the mistakes on other people's head to avoid taking responsibility or our own behaviour, while God does play Blame-Shifting too. In contrast compared to us, instead of dumping the mistakes on others, He voluntarily take the blame although it is not His faults. He is willing to take the consequences of the sins, which are not belong to Him, so we may be hindered from the consequences, which is dead (Romans 6:23a). Do you think why He would do that? He did that because He loves his creations including us, until he would better sacrifice himself so we will be saved.

Chorus of “Trust His Heart”
God is too wise to be mistaken, God is too good to be unkind,
So when you don't understand, When you don't see His plan,
When you can't trace His hand, Trust His Heart

There is a song title "Trust His Heart", we may comprehend the chorus of the lyrics. I think this lyrics may help us how to respond, when we are experiencing suffering. We really do not know why those bad things happen to us, and where this horrible situation will bring us, maybe God is working on something to prepare us for our future. Like the story at the introduction, the sad situation that occurred to the young pastor has prepared him to serve better in his future career. We do not need to understand everything about God and His actions. However, we have to know and understand our God has a loving heart, which is reflected by His real work on the cross. Therefore, when we really do not understand and do not know what to do, just trust His Heart.

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

Blame-Shifting Game.

Being a teacher is not easy. My colleague found out the hard way. One of our students blamed my colleague for not motivating her enough. As a result, our student could not finish her homework… she said. Was it really my friend’s failure as a teacher, not being able to motivate this student to do what she was supposed to do anyway? Let’s discuss further.

According to the bible, blame-shifting *) is the oldest ancient game played in this world. Let’s open the bible, and we will find the classic example right in the beginning of the book of Genesis.

THE BOOK OF GENESIS Chapter 2:15-23 (NIV):
15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.
22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”

After God had created all animals, and Adam had given names to all of them, God realised that none of them was suitable to be the true helper for Adam (Gen 2:18). So God made Adam fall into a deep sleep, He took one of Adam’s ribs, made a woman from this rib, and He brought her to Adam.  At first, Adam was most happy when God brought this woman - called Eve - to him (Gen 2:23). But his sentiment shifted after a while.

Let’s move backward a little to see this more clearly. God had created a variety of trees, from which Adam and Eve could eat the fruits as they desired, except for one tree: The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad (Gen 2:16-17). However, Eve could not resist the fruit, and finally neither could Adam, and together they ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.  As written, the consequences of eating fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they will certainly die.

Chapter 3:8-12 (NIV):
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

God called Adam upon his deed. And rather than admitting his deed, Adam shifted the blame to Eve. To God, he answered: “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” Adam blamed God for giving him a woman who led him to sin. He perceived that if God has given him a better woman, he would not commit to sin. Adam was so easily change his perspective on God after breaking God’s command.

We human beings easily blame others for our mistakes. We do not want to look bad because of our mistakes, and we would rather flee from them. We dump the blame on someone else to avoid that we have to take responsibility for our own faults. Are there any benefit that we may gain from the Blame-Shifting behaviour? No way. We may escape this time, but we will make other mistakes in the future. So how would we like to solve that? Blame-shifting again? How long? How often? There is a saying "No matter how good a squirrel can jump, it will fall eventually.” In plain language: no matter how good you are at blame-shifting, eventually you will suffer from the consequences of your actions.

Instead, we may apply those famous football or basketball players' attitude, if they are interviewed after they lost in a game.  They often say words like:  "Yeah, I am sorry, I played badly today, or maybe this is a bad day for us.” “This is a learning experience for us, we need to come together again and practice harder. Hopefully we win in the next season".  They never seem to blame their team members. They admit that they made mistakes, and own the responsibility for their own behaviours or actions. Further, they also evaluate on how to correct the mistakes that they've made.

If we never own the responsibility for the mistakes that we made, then we may not feel the need to correct it. Ultimately, we will live in this devilish circle forever. Is that what we want?  It is a matter of choices.  I would like to open those options for you to choose. (^_^)

Renungan, Senin - 19 Feb 2018.

Amin. (Taken from someone with initial - Dod).

Whatever it takes.

There’s a voice calling me from an old rugged tree
And it whispers
“Draw closer to Me
Leave your world far behind
There are new heights to climb
And a new life in Me you will find”

For whatever it takes to draw closer to You, Lord
That’s what I’ll be willing to do
And whatever it takes to be more like You
That’s what I’ll be willing to do

Take the dearest things to me
If that’s how it must be to draw me closer to You
Let my disappointments come
Lonely days without the sun
If in sorrow more like You I’ll become

I’ll trade sunshine for rain, comfort for pain
That’s what I’ll be willing to do
For whatever it takes for my will to break
That’s what I’ll be willing to do
That’s what I’ll be willing to do

Only by God.

I arise today through God's strength to pilot me
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's words to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me,
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity.

Don't look down!
Keep your fork --- Something better is coming.

Grace Alone.

Every promise we can make
Every prayer and step of faith
Every difference we can make
Is only by His grace.
Every mountain we will climb
Every ray of hope we shine
Every blessing left behind
Is only by His grace

Chorus:
Grace alone Which God supplies
Strength unknown He will provide
Christ in us, our cornerstone
We will go forth in grace alone.

Every soul we long to reach
Every heart we hope to teach
Everywhere we share His peace
Is only by His grace.
Every loving word we say
Every tear we wipe away
Every sorrow turned to praise
Is only by His grace.

Life is a process.

Here is a wonderful explanation...
Dengan senang hati anaknya berkata, "Tentu saja, I love your cake."
"Nih, cicipi mentega ini," kata Ibunya menawarkan.
"Yaiks," ujar anaknya.
"Bagaimana dengan telur mentah?"
"You're kidding me, Mom."
Tuhan teramat sangat mencintai kita.

Why have you chosen me?

This song is included in our church Caring Group Fellowship's worship song book, I found the lyrics of this song is really beautiful and so real...

Why have You chosen me out of millions Your child to be?
You know all the wrong that I've done
O how could You pardon me, forgive my iniquity
To save me, give Jesus Your Son

Reff:
But (Oh) Lord, help me be, what You want me to be,
Your words I will strive to obey;
My life I now give, For You I will live,
And walk by Your side All the way

I am amazed to know that a God so great could love me so
He's willing and wanting to bless;
His grace is so wonderful, His mercy's so bountiful
I can't understand it I confess

Trust His Heart.

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
Trust His Heart

The above paragraph is a chorus of a song Title "Trust His Heart". I was listening to a bible conference message from RBC by Rev. Bill Crowder (He is my fave bible teacher). He talked about suffering, sometimes we don't know why bad circumstance happen to our life. He shared his experience when he was a young pastor for a church, he received a call from his family to inform that his dad has passed away. While his heart was overwhelmed with grief, a senior pastor came to him and said "one day you will be thankful for this". He thought why should I be thankful for my dad's death. That happened to be his first funeral service. Years have passed by, he conducted many more funeral services, because of his experience with his dad's funeral, he was able to serve the grieving family more passionately and connected with them.

Admittedly when unfavourable circumstances come to us, or on the other hand, good things have not come to us, when we are longing for something/someone, maybe a family is waiting for a child, a man/woman is looking for a job or a life partner, and yet these prayers have not been answered. We usually shout loudly in our heart "Why this happen to me? Has God forgotten me?" The above lyrics is the answer, We don't know where the current situation will bring us, maybe God is working on something to prepare us for our future. We have to know and understand our God, He has a loving heart. When we really don't understand and don't know what to do, just trust His heart.

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

Restart again..

After being so lazy to journalise my thought for quite a long time (almost three years), I think I need to restart this good habit. All of the sudden, I browsed some of my past entries, I felt so amazed what I learnt and thought in the past. Having re-read all over again, it's a kind of refresh my mind again. I never thought that I have typed all those writings, I totally forget almost all of them. It's just good feeling you have some records of them, and it helps you to be reminded again.

The Five Finger Prayer.

Mereka membutuhkan tuntunan Tuhan.

4. Ring Finger – Jari Manis.

5. Little Finger – Jari Kelingking. Selamat Berdoa!

Sampai sekarang kamu belum meminta sesuatu pun dalam nama-Ku. Mintalah maka kamu akan menerima, supaya penuhlah sukacitamu - Yohanes 16:24

Enjoy the Journey.

I found this article in my journal. I wrote this from a book, I forgot what book. Last night I read it again, I think it is good to put this entry into my blog as a reminder. I hope you all may find it useful and blessed by the words.

Proverb 4:18 "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day".

Sometimes it's easy to become so goal oriented and so focused on our dreams that we over look the simple things that we should be enjoying in our everyday life. But we have to remember that life is not really about the destination. It's about how we live along the way. It's about the path we're on that shines brighter and brighter.

In this life, there is no such thing as a finish line. Once you accomplish one dream, God will give you another. When you over come one challenge, there will be another. There is always another mountain to climb. If we make the mistake of just living for the destination, we'll look up one day and realise we've missed out on the biggest path of life because most of life is routine. Most of us get up every morning, go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed and do it again. There are very few montain tops where you graduate from school, or you get married, or have a child, or go on vacation. The hightimes are few and far between. Don't get struck living for the mountain tops, learn to enjoy the path you're on. Learn to enjoy the simple blessings of walking in the path the Lord has prepared for you.

A Prayer today
Father God, thank you for the give of life.
Thank you for the good plan you have for me today and for my future.
Teach me to enjoy the journey of life, to embrace each day with joy and enthusiasm.
Help me to see the blessing of every moment you have given me.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.

My life is not about me anymore.

Many things has changed this past one year. I am still struggling to balance my overall activities; Work, church ministry and household's responsibilities. Work has been so demanding, by its nature, I have lived with it for almost seven years. Maybe I get use to it already. I have made choices and stay focus on a few ministry that I really can assist. The latest is not my expertise. Until last year, I was so independent, take care of my personal matters... When it comes to take care of others, I am quite disappointing.

I missed to put myself in other's shoes, it's quite sad if you received complain from people that close to you, saying that you don't care about them, egocentric and selfish. I know I am not perfect and cannot make everybody happy, but at least I need to start and put more effort to care for people surrounding me, even I need to sacrifice.. Doesn't it Christ has sacrificed for us? He came down from heaven, become a human and die on the cross for what? for us, unworthy sinner yet He does not care about that because He so loves us. As a christian, who is saved by Christ, I should not be self centred.

I'm Sorry sis If I've disappointed you by not being what you expected. I promised that from now on I will do my best to share our burden.

Act 20:24 "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus given me - the task of testifiying the gospel of God's grace".

Wise words.

Not to conformed
"Keep sound wisdom and discretion ... Then you will walk in your way securely and your foot will not stumble" (Proverbs 3:21,23).

We can't live or do business in this world without rubbing shoulders with those driven by the world's desires. So, we must make a practical decision not to be conformed, while are in the system,... It takes courage to think alone, to resist alone, to stand alone...
(Charles R. Swindoll)

Decision Making
Decisions revel values and intelligence. They require obedience to and dependence upon God.
Decision makers must understand complicated matter, but they also need God's perspective in deciding how to act.

It's crucial to make wise decisions, but no decision is wise if it's made indepently of God.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5)
(Quoted from God's Words of Life For Leaders)

Peacemaker
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9)

Peacemakers seek solutions and find no delight in arguments.
Peacemakers lower their voices rather than raise them.
(Charles R. Swindoll)

Difficulties
God delights to increase the faith of his children. We ought, instead of wanting no trials before victory, no exercise for patience, to be willing to take them from God's hand as a means. Trials, obstacles, difficulties, and sometimes defeats, are the very food of faith.
(George Muller)

Control yourself.

A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. (Proverb 10:11)

A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. (Proverb 12:16)

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverb 15:1)

Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. (Proverb 17:14)

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, ... (1 Peter 3:9)

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. (Romans 14:19)

Everything happens for a reason.

I found the following excerpt:

"Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there.. to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but when you look eyes with them, you know that every moment that you are with them, they will affect your life in some profound way. Sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realise that without overcoming those obstacles you would never realised your potential, strength, will power of heart."

These last few months have been very difficult for me to go through. So many things need to be managed at work, at church and at home, which the lattest previously I didn't put too much attention on it. Things changed! Many new conditions keep coming simultaneously, which break my focus. Until now, I don't understand why these things happened to me, and wondering what exactly God is preparing me for. Sometimes I feel very discourage in seeing that I cannot manage all of the stuff altogether, there are times where I need to sacrifice one of another. The above excerpt give some comforts when it says overcoming obstacles that come into our life strectching our potential capabilities. Based on my past experiences this statement is true, but I need more faith for believing it this time.. Like the song lyrics below, can we still put our hope in God when we are in difficult situation?

When I don't see Your way
When I don't understand Your plan
However I hold Your promise
My hope is only on You

Lord I will trust in You
Lord I will trust in You
Lord I will trust in You
My heart will trust in You

Annointing of ease.

Taken from Joel Osteen "its your time" book:

Brian told me about his own experience with an annointing of ease. He is an honest, hardworking man who believes that business are built on trusting relationships. So he was very discouraged when he learned that his bosses were cheating one of their best customers.

After mulling it over, Brian decided that he could no longer work for a dishonest company. He didn't have a college degree. He didn't have another job lined up. He and his wife had just become parents for the first time. Still, he couldn't cheat people who trusted him.

Before he turned in his resignation, Brian told the customer that he was being overbilled. The customer was upset but thanked Him for his honesty and wished him well.

It was a challenging time for Brian. He'd work hard to learn the business and to build up his list of clients. He worried about his family's future. Then, a few weeks after he'd quit his job, Brian received a phone call from the client who'd been cheated.

"I'd like to help you start your own company," the client said. "I'll finance your start up, and I will be your first customer."

Brian stepped into an annointing of ease. What he couldn't make happen on his own, God made happen for him. He made a tough decision to do the right thing. He weathered hard times. He endured sleepless nights. Then, God stepped in and turned off the pressure.

Maybe like Brian, you have struggled in some aspect of your life. Let me assure you that if you stay in faith, you will come into your own annointing of ease. God has promised He will go before you and smooth your path. He will make your life easier.

In hard times, know that God is still on the throne. Know He is working things out for your good.

Amen.

The Pearl.

This is the title of a poem in the book of "Lady in Waiting" by Jackie Kendall & Debby Jones. I have read this book some months ago, and I re-read it again for a reminder and tried hard to apply what have been taught from the book. Chapter four uses the analogy of life being like an Oyster.

The following are some paragraphs I quote from the chapter:
"One of life’s most costly and beautiful objects is born out of pain and irritation–the pearl. A tiny piece of sand slips into an oyster’s shell and begins to rub against the soft tissue, causing irritation. In response to the irritation, the oyster produces a hard substance. This substance eventually develops ino one of the world’s most beautiful jewels–a lovely luminous pearl. In fact, the greater the irritation, the more valuable the pearl! "

"Many single women view themselves as ugly oyster shells lying on the beaches of life, beset with the trials and problems thaat come with not being married. To make matters worse, they compare their crusty exterior to all the beautiful seashells around them and wonder how any man could ever give his attention to them. "

Like the oyster and pearl, think of James 1:2-4, “Consider it all joy, my brethen, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
Instead of the sands of your life causing bitterness, allow the trials to change you into a pearl.

The book also described two Godly women, Ruth and Rebecca (Genesis 24:16-25) who had been put in to unpleasant condition, but they persevere and kept their focus on God, which allow God through trials, change themselves into Pearl.

The Pearl (by Sylvia Hannah)
In every oyster there lies the ability
to produce something rare.
Truth like a grain of sand will produce
the pearl that is hidden there.

Young woman you are often mocked and scorned.
And told you never should have been born.
You want to run away, to hide your hurt.
Your heart is wounded, bleeding and torn.

God makes not mistakes
every life is special,
every life is planned.
Seeds can sprout in sand.

Open yourselves up to the Spirit of God
Grow in grace and maturity
Be what He wants you to be

Your beauty your strength lies deep within you.
Young woman, young girl,
open yourselves up to God.
Allow Him to reveal your pearl.

God will provide. - by Mark Patterson.

The time has come to journey and go where God leads me
And though the road may seen to long
I know God's love will keep me

I may not know how the road will turn or where God will send me
So by Faith i'll trust and with grace i'll learn
God's mighty hand will defend me

I may not see all the things that are waiting just ahead
but I know God's watching over me
and in God's strength i'll stand

Gof will provide strength for the journey
bread for the morning and shelter for the night
God will provide hope for the weary
God will sustain me all the days of my life

Becoming the woman God wants me to be (Proverbs 31:10-31).

10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.
16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in the fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdow and faithful instruction in on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her;
29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

He never sleeps.

By Claire Cloninger and Don Moen.

When you've prayed every prayer that you know how to pray
Just remember the Lord will hear and the answer is on it's way
Our God is able, He is mighty, He is faithful
And He never sleeps He never slumbers
He never tires of hearing our prayer
When we are weak He becomes stronger
So rest in His love and cast all of your cares on Him

Do you feel that the Lord has forgotten your need
Just remember that God is always working in ways you cannot see
Our God is able, He is mighty, He is faithful

Still. By Reuben Morgan.

Remain at the same context. Usually I listen to radio program while I am driving. Today when I drove home, I don't know what make me prefer to listen to a CD rather than a radio program. I randomly took a Doen Moen CD and played it during my journey home. I hardly listened to the Songs until the last song, which made me astonished (OMG this the third times within three days). The following is the lyric:

Hide me now
Under Your wings
Cover me
Within Your mighty hand

CHORUS:
When the oceans rise
And the thunders roar
I Will soar with You
Above the storm
Father You are King over the flood
And I will be still
And know You are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust
Be still and know
That I am God
I am the God
That healeth thee

Lingkupiku dengan sayap-Mu
Naungiku dengan kuasa-Mu
Lingkupiku dengan sayap-Mu
Naungiku dengan kuasa-Mu

REff:
Di saat badai bergelora
Ku akan terbang bersama-Mu
Bapa kau raja atas S'mesta
Ku tenang s'bab kau Allahku

Lesson from God (Part 2).

While the passage below (Psalm 46:10a - Be still, and know that I am your God) is still fresh in my mind, yesterday I went to SMS with Vivi, we planned to buy some books at Halleluya. During the journey from BSD to SMS, Vivi shared some of her experiences with God and she gave me a passage

Lamentations 3:22 - Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

I seldom or maybe never read Lamentations book, this morning I was a bit curious what this book is about, and I read through the passage, continue to 3:22-26

22 Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness
24 I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him".
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the the one who seeks Him.
26 It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

You see the verse 26, QUIETLY, confirmed what Novi told me before. Can't believe it, every words has the confirmation... I am stunned. Speechless..

Psalm 46:10a - Be still, and know that I am God.

As I have shared before, I felt anxious these past few weeks. Felt so many uncertainty. Somehow don't know what to do or have nothing to do, give me more pressure rather than being busy. Having discussed with Novi, she shared that she has been through this situation before and advice me this verse. Doing nothing is not a sin, sometimes we need to surrender and give chance to God to reveal His way, His plan and His will fo us rather than we try to make up everything for ourselves. No wonder, we always feel tired, because we lean on our own strength only.

I found this song in Youtube, very inspiring.

The writer comment:
In this verse, God's people are commanded to "be still", to cause ourselves to "let go", or let ourselves become weak. We surrender ourselves in order to know that God is in control. Too often, we believe that we can do all things on our own, without God's help. Personal initiative is no substitute for reliance upon God. We are also to "know that He is God". We need to meditate on His attributes - Holiness, Perfection, Majesty, Mercy, and infinite Wisdom ... to name a few. He has adopted us as His children, and looks after us always.
{Romans 8:14-17}

Know that He is God! He is the all-powerful Creator of the universe! Be still because of what you know about God. Consider all that He has done, for ones in the past and for each of us in our own lives. Rejoice in the calmness and serenity that comes when we trust in the One that took our sin upon Him, and gave us His Peace that surpasses all understanding ... and everlasting life in Him.

Worriness antidote.

A lot of thing came into my mind, sometimes I just couldn't help to stop my mind working. The more I think the more the worriness I had. During this anxious time, one of my niece, Clarabelle came to me and asked me to read her a book, the title is "Molly wants more".

I read through it outloud for her. The story is about a five years old Molly and her little brother. Both of them are having a tea time, their mum gave them two cookies each. However, Molly wants more and she grabs her little brother's cookies. Her little brother cry outloud when he knows Molly take over his cookies. Their mum come in and give Molly advice. full stop. I took a breath and want to continue the reading, suddenly Clara said outloud "The Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need". Ta da.. I was slapped by her words. I shouldn't worry to much about anything, my future, soulmate and many many other things. Surely God will provide.

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Lesson from God.

Last saturday night I really felt uneasy and unable to sleep, and I tried hard to sleep but couldn't. Hence, I found something to do, accidentally I read Gema (our church devotion book) and got passage PSALM 37:5 "Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him and He will do this".

When I was home on the Sunday night, I really felt uncomfortable, my thought was very messy, and I tried to calm down and found something to read, I don't know what drove me, I took "Lady in waiting" book once again and flip through the last chapter, title "Patient Woman". I read this chapter once again and found out also discuss about PSALM 37:3-5.

3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart
5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this

I mean lately God has taught me a lot of things, If I come closer to know him, the guidance is getting more obvious, and it seems no way I can run from Him.

In His Time. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

In His time, In His time
He makes all things beautiful
In His time

Lord, please show me everyday
As you’re teaching me your way
That you do just what you say
In His time

In Your time, In Your time
You make all things beautiful
In Your time

Lord, my life to you I bring
May each song I have to sing
Be to You a lovely thing
In Your time

Some Quotes.

"Without risk there is no faith. Faith is precisely the contradiction between the infinite passion of the individual's inwardness and the objective uncertainty. If I am capable of grasping God objectively, I do not believe, but precisely because I cannot do this I must believe." - Soren Kierkegaard.

"The important thing is not to think much but to love much.. only in praer we learn to love God with heart, mind and soul." - Theresa Avila.

"Prayer is our response to God's interest in us and his love for us. To pray is to become aware of God's spirit living within us. Through prayer, we explore a deeper and more intimate relationship with God." - James M. Houston.

"If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself." - Augustine of Hipp0.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith ;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen. - Francis of Asisi.

Mountain Story.. (Unknown Author)

Another inspired story... Enjoy..

A son and his father were walking on the mountains.
Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh! !!"

To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh! !!"

Curious, he yells: "Who are you?" He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"
The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"
He receives the answer: "Coward!"

He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"
The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."
Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"
The voice answers: "You are a champion!"
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.
Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have given to it."

YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!"

7 kiat bekerja menurut amsal Salomo.

1. Andalkan Tuhan

4. Berlakulah Jujur dan Benar
Amsal 16:8 berkata, "Lebih baik penghasilan sedikit disertai kebenaran, daripada penghasilan banyak tanpa keadilan".
Amsal 10:9 berkata, "Siapa bersih kelakuannya, aman jalannya, tetapi siapa berliku-liku jalannya, akan diketahui ".
Amsal 10:16, "Upah pekerjaan orang benar membawa kepada kehidupan, penghasilan orang fasik membawa kepada dosa."

5. Jaga Mulut

6. Sabar dan Tenang
Amsal 16:32 berkata, "Orang yang sabar melebihi seorang pahlawan, orang yang menguasai dirinya, melebihi orang merebut kota".
Amsal 14:30 menambahkan, "Hati yang tenang menyegarkan tubuh, tetapi iri hati membusukkan tulang."
